Halloween falls the day after half term. Crystal Palace Park's funfair runs 23 October to 1 November and Chislehurst's pumpkin hunt is 30 October, £6 a child.
Halloween is Saturday 31 October 2026, the day after Bromley’s two-week half term ends. The borough’s biggest Halloween fixture this year runs for the whole second week of the break: Irvin’s Funfair at Crystal Palace Park, Friday 23 October to Sunday 1 November, with free entry. The other dated one is smaller and sells out: Chislehurst’s Pumpkin Hunt on Friday 30 October, £6 a child.
Everything here was read on 2 October 2026 from the organisers’ own pages. Where an event ran last year and has not been announced for this one, this page says so rather than repeating last year’s dates.

Irvin’s Funfair, Crystal Palace Park
The park’s own listing bills it as “classic funfair entertainment, with a Halloween twist”, with rides and attractions for all ages (Crystal Palace Park).
- Friday 23 October, 4pm to 10pm
- Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November, 1pm to 10pm every day
- Free entry. You pay for rides with tokens, sold online and at the fair.
- Where: Palace Terrace, entered from Crystal Palace Parade by the bus terminal, SE19 1UA.
The rides are at ground level, but the park warns that some paths may be uneven or muddy.
The same park has two free Sunday afternoon concerts on the covered Concert Platform in the break: the Endurance Steel Orchestra on 18 October and Swimmers Jackson on 25 October, both 2pm to 4pm and not ticketed (Crystal Palace Park what’s on).
Chislehurst Pumpkin Hunt, Friday 30 October
Visit Chislehurst runs a trail along the High Street on the last afternoon of half term, sponsored by Chislehurst Chiropractic Clinic (Visit Chislehurst).
- 1pm to 4pm, with tickets sold for timed starts at 1pm, 1.30pm, 2pm, 2.30pm and 2.45pm.
- £6 for each child aged 2 and over. Under-2s do not need a ticket.
- Each ticket holder gets one map at the registration point on the day.
- There is a fancy dress competition with prizes for first, second and third.
- It goes ahead whatever the weather. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable; if the organisers have to cancel, tickets move to a new date.
The organisers say 2025’s hunt sold out, so buy before the week itself. Children must stay with a parent or guardian throughout.
Pumpkin picking at Hewitts Farm
The only pick-your-own pumpkin patch inside the borough we could confirm is Hewitts Farm on Court Road (A224), Orpington, opposite Chelsfield Lakes Golf Course. Its pick your own page, updated on 1 October 2026, lists pumpkins and squashes among the crops available now (Hewitts Farm).
- No booking and no entry fee. You pay for what you pick, and the farm asks you to pick only what you will buy. Cash and card are accepted.
- Open Tuesday to Saturday 9am to 4.30pm and Sunday 9am to 4pm; closed Mondays.
- Last entry is strictly 3.30pm Tuesday to Saturday and 3pm on Sundays, and the farm turns away anyone who arrives later.
- Large free car park. Bring your own bags; boxes are on sale at the gate.
- Under-16s must be with an adult. The barbecue and picnic area is permanently closed.
The farm says pumpkins end the season in October, and it posts daily crop updates on its Facebook page, so check before driving out late in the month.
For adults
Dracula plays the Bridge House Theatre above the pub in Penge from Tuesday 20 to Saturday 31 October at 7.30pm, finishing on Halloween night. It is a new adaptation by Andrew and David Hobbs, produced by British Touring Shakespeare, with Paul Winterford as the Count and Ellie Ward as Mina Harker. The theatre is on the first floor and reached only by stairs (The Bridge House Theatre). The same company performs a free 30 minute set of extracts inside the Crystal Palace Subway on Saturday 10 October (Crystal Palace Park).
Stage Fright, a Halloween special with Dr Ross Friday, is in the Churchill Theatre Lounge on Friday 30 October at 8pm, from £21.50 (Churchill Theatre).
Not announced yet
- Your Bromley’s Trick or Treat Trail. The town centre business district ran a free trail last year, from Monday 27 to Friday 31 October, with ten shops each displaying a skull and a letter, and prizes, face painting and stilt walkers at The Glades on Halloween (Your Bromley, 2025). Its events calendar has nothing for October 2026 half term. If it runs, it will be the town centre’s free option.
- Chislehurst Caves. The caves advertise seasonal Halloween and spooky story tours but publish no dates, times or prices, only a phone number, 020 8467 3264 (Chislehurst Caves). Ordinary lamp-lit tours run every day of the school holidays.
- The Glades. Its events page has no half-term or Halloween event listed.
We check again in the week before Halloween and add anything the organisers publish.
Getting there
Half term runs Monday 19 to Friday 30 October, and the clocks go back on Sunday 25 October, so the second week’s afternoons get dark an hour earlier. School dates, Chislehurst Caves prices and the rest of the fortnight are on our October half term page.
For Crystal Palace Park, the funfair entrance is by the bus terminal on Crystal Palace Parade. Chislehurst’s pumpkin hunt is on the High Street, and the village’s council car parks are covered on our parking in Bromley page. Anything dug up on the way is on our roadworks and travel page. A week after Halloween, four fireworks displays share Saturday 7 November: see our Bromley fireworks page.
